Jeremy Rimbaud is a French veteran, who became a cannibal killer within weeks of returning from duty in Afghanistan.

A convicted cannibal, who killed a farmer before cooking his heart and tongue with white beans, escaped custody and attacked a woman while she was walking her dog.

Jeremy Rimbaud, a 34-year-old veteran returned from the Afghanistan War with severe psychiatric issues including schizophrenia and PTSD.

Within weeks of leaving Afghanistan and reentering France, his home country, Rimbaud attacked and murdered 90-year-old farmer Leopold Pedebidau. In the secluded farmhouse in Southern France, Rimbaud subsequently chopped up his victim, before cooking his heart and tongue to eat with white beans.

The cannibal was only captured following a second attack on another farmer.

Rimbaud was arrested and convicted 2011, but escaped from custody in a psychiatric facility earlier this month.

Jeremy Rimbaud before the attacks

It’s unclear how the cannibal escaped but whilst on the loose in the French city of Toulouse, he came upon a woman walking her dog. Approaching from behind, Rimbaud hit her in the back of the head before beating her with a stick. Fortunately, passers-by rescued the woman and Rimbaud fled before being re-arrested.

The woman later found out that she was attacked by a convicted cannibal.

The victim described the attack as ‘absolutely terrifying.’

Lawyer Maître Françoise Séles, reportedly called Rimbaud a victim of the Afghanistan war.

This case undoubtedly calls into question the support given to soldiers whilst on tour and upon their return.
