1. Matthew Broderick.

Known for movies such as Ferris Bueller, Godzilla and The Lion King, Broderick is a globally famous actor.

In 1987, Broderick (25) was famously dating the Dirty Dancing star, Jennifer Grey. The couple were holidaying in Ireland and had rented a BMW which he drove. On the 5th of August, Broderick began driving on the incorrect side of the road — in Ireland, like the UK, vehicles drive on the left. Tragically, he drove head-on into an oncoming vehicle which contained a mother and daughter. Anna Gallagher (28) and her mother, Margaret Doherty (63) were killed on impact.

Jennifer Grey suffered severely and needed surgery to prevent paralysis. Broderick sustained several injuries himself, but had no memory of the incident.

The actor was charged with causing death by dangerous driving, but was convicted of a lesser offence of careless driving. The victims’ families were outraged at such a verdict and the actor was fined $175…
