In September 1983, five people were abducted from a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant in Kilgore, Texas. Three of the people worked in the restaurant and two were customers.

KFC colleagues, Joey Johnson (20), Mary Tyler (37), and Opie Hughes (39) were reported as missing by Mary’s daughter, who discovered the crime scene.

It was around 10:30 pm when Kimberley arrived at the KFC to speak with her Mom. Upon arrival, Kim discovered that the door was unlocked and there was blood on the floor. In the kitchen area, she saw clear signs of an altercation including scattered utensils and employee hats on the floor.

After being alerted, police immediately began to search for the missing KFC employees and informed their families of their disappearance.

A little while later at around midnight, a young pregnant woman named Lana Maxwell arrived at the KFC searching for her husband, David Maxwell (20). Lana told police that David had headed to the restaurant earlier that evening and had not returned. David was meeting his friend Joey Johnson at his workplace, along with another friend, Monty Landers (19).
