The Motown singer of timeless hits ‘Heard it Through the Grapevine’ & ‘Sexual Healing’ was killed by his father.
A household name to many, Marvin Gaye’s musical talent brought him world fame and earned him the nickname, ‘The Prince of Soul.’ Marvin was a pioneer and shaped the musical genre, paving the way for generations of artists to come. Marvin had a tough childhood and struggled with fame, but he loved his family dearly and provided for them generously. Returning from tour to care for his sick mother, Marvin and his father argued constantly. Following a verbal attack on his mother one evening, Marvin intervened physically and his father shot him twice at point-blank range.
Following Marvin’s death, his sister to whom he was very close, explained that the murder was far more complex than it seemed.
Marvin, she said, knew exactly what he was doing that night.
